It's Curtains Act 3 Test Drive

1) CURTAINS UP

You’ve just woken up in some kind of dorm room, which is certainly not where you went to bed last night. Actually, do you even remember going to sleep…? Regardless, this isn't where you last were, and worse still - there's other people waking up in the same room with you, in the same state.

Talk to your roommates! Go out and meet everyone from the other rooms! Most of these people may be strangers, but you’re gonna all have to get used to one another. And who knows? There may actually be a familiar face in the crowd.

2) THIS PETTY PACE

By now, you're acquainted with everybody here and you're slowly growing bored. Bored enough to kill? Hopefully not. You'd better try to find something else to do. You can always go hang out with your castmates, or maybe try and whip something up in the kitchen! There’s even a band room to keep you busy! I sure hope you like music.

3) BREAK A LEG

Comedies are fun and all, but that’s not quite what we’re about here. You’ve all just been handed this week’s motive. What do you make of it? Is it one that might actually tempt you to kill, or did you get off lightly this time? Either way, maybe you’d better look around the room and see who else is having a rough time.

4) I LOVE PLAY REHEARSAL

It's Club Day! What's Club Day, you ask? Come to the classroom on the poster to find out! It looks like this week's club is Bread Club. Be wary, when you enter the classroom you'll face a shower of various bread slices but be rewarded with a surprisingly fancy layout of spreads and jams to go with them. Don't mind the oddly threatening poster on the far wall. He's just here to supervise.

5) CURTAIN

It was bound to happen eventually. Someone is dead, and now it's time to go off and investigate. Were they close to you? Are you, perhaps, feeling guilty? Either way, it's probably best not to leave anyone alone right now.

6) CUE MUSIC

Feelings in a murder-school can get pretty gosh darn intense. Sometimes you’ve just got to let it out. And hey, if you sing a song about whatever’s going on in your head, maybe someone will hear and come help you? Either way, this is a musical – there’s not really any reason not to sing.

[Mod Note: The song mechanic is meant to be fluid and simple. You do not have to produce your own song lyrics, nor are you required to use show tunes (although we do encourage it!). If you want to rewrite existing lyrics to fit the situation, go for it! Anything goes - if Mumford and Sons expresses your character’s current emotions, then break out the banjos. We want to keep the musical mechanic as fun and simple as we can to encourage our players to use it as much as they like.]

He really deeply wishes that Discord would learn about personal space, but he's also at the point where he's realizing how much of a lost cause that is.]

Knowing what I know of you insofar, I get the impression that I wouldn't find your surprises particularly pleasant.

[He'll just skip after him, staying close by.] You probably wouldn't. Too much of a stick in the mud, hm?

[as it often does around Discord, Salieri finds that he has clenched his jaw. He forces it to relax. He's been called worse, after all.]

I'll have you know I'm the life of the party back home. [he hums a bit, as if thinking it idly] However, I don't think they're your sort of parties. [he waves a hand, idly] Hardly the sort of crowd you could handle.

Excuse me? [he laughs, but this time, not amused.] I'm Discord. Spirit of chaos and disharmony! I'm the life of every party.

I can handle any crowd with ease!

Of course you can. [patronizing 8)]

Oh, you're probably right! Why, a fancy court of dull rich people! Woe is me, I'd never surviiiiive. [and he leans dramatically against a wall, sliding down it.]

Oh? Do you often spend time in the court of fancy dull rich people?

Not if I can help it. Really, now, I'm far too good for a crowd like that! They don't deserve my dazzling self.

Of course. I'm sure that is exactly the reason.

I was stuck in a royal palace garden for centuries, trust me, I've seen enough of your sort of crowd to last me dozens of lifetimes.

You were stuck in a royal palace garden for centuries? [he hates to admit it, but part of him is almost interested in that story] Whatever were you doing? Planting roses where there should be petunias?

[disharmonizes]

While messing up the royal gardener's perfectly planned flower arrangements sounds like a fun time - oh, some zapping zinnias, perhaps? - that wasn't really anything I was getting up to. No, no, I was more part of the decor.

...and how did you accomplish that?

Oh, you know, just a crazy night out, you end up waking up in the strangest places. ...And I was a little bit turned into stone, perhaps.

[violentenvies]

You were turned to stone. [lol okay sure] How inconvenient. [dry.]

[disharmonizes]

Oh, extremely! Have you ever not moved for a thousand years, oh, it's so boring. You wouldn't believe the crick in my neck after that.

I believe I'll defer to your expertise in this instance, seeing as I have never been in a situation where I was not allowed to move for a millennia.

[he sounds almost...amused? as they reach the kitchen and he goes to put on the kettle.]

Well, you're unlikely to plunge an entire land into chaos to the point where the local royalty feels the need to be a party pooper and imprison you, so. I think you'll be fine.

[violentenvies]

[he pauses briefly in the act of turning on the stove (something he's finally figured out how to do just last week,) digesting that information for a moment, before he continues his task] No, I can say with absolute confidence that such a thing is rather unlikely to happen.

Some people just don't appreciate all that I have to offer! At least I never turned anyone into stone. Honestly, now.

Any common cockatrice can turn someone to stone. Where's the fun in that?
