Well now that everything is settled, why not be a little evil? In this AU, your character is the one behind all of this! Feel free to stretch things however you like to make it reasonable for your character to have done this! The world is your evil oyster.

And obviously this doesn't have to line up with game canon; if your character would have been dead in the canon, they can be survivors in this AU! Or you can pretend your character died to hide the fact that they're the mastermind if they lived!

Just go wild! There's no such thing as too much gloating and villain songs!

[ Orpheus knows this is coming. She always remembers. Always up to that last moment, always right before he turns around. She always has so much faith in him.

The first dozen times or so, he told her the truth. He felt like she had a right to know, and he held her and sobbed for the loss, for his own frailty and guilt. But now he can't bring himself to crush that hope - however selfish it is, he just wants to see her happy in what always turns out to be her final days. So he opens his eyes and takes her hand carefully in his, smiling up at her. He can't shake or mask over the exhaustion and sadness, but it's a genuine smile all the same. One more stolen moment of happiness, bittersweet as it is. ]

You remembered something?

[ The smile is -- good. Not the same as he was before, but then again, neither is she. Eurydice assumes it's the murders that are weighing him down. What else could it be?

(She finds herself asking that a lot, lately. So many things don't add up. But Eurydice trusts Orpheus, more than anyone else on earth, including herself.)

She nods, and in that same careful, gentle voice: ]

Yeah. Do you want to know what it was?

[ Orhpheus nods, sitting up and wrapping his arms around her. ]

Tell me everything.

[ He knows she's worried about him. She has every reason to be. He tries his best to be his old self around her, and sometimes he manages - mostly on those odd occasions where she still surprises him, here and there, brings some of the old joy bubbling back to the surface. This... will not be one of those occasions. He knows how this story goes. But he still wants to hear it, wants to cling to Eurydice's hope and let himself pretend, just for a moment, that it could've turned out okay. ]

Your song worked. [ she doesn't remember hearing it -- the dream didn't stretch that far back. but she knows it must have been beautiful. maybe he'll sing it for her, after they leave this place. maybe he'll be up to it. ]

He let us go. The last thing I remembered, we were walking out. Maybe -- maybe we walked here, and that's when the Wizard took our memories.

[ yeah! yeah, that totally makes sense!! and if they can walk out of hadestown, they can walk out of this place. they're not even dead. ]
