It's Curtains Act 2 Test Drive

1) CURTAINS UP
You’ve just woken up in a small dressing room, which is certainly not where you went to bed last night. Actually, do you even remember going to sleep…? Regardless, this isn't where you last were, and if you leave your room you’re going to find a lot of other people in the same state.Go out and socialize! Most of these people may be strangers, but you’re gonna all have to get used to one another. And who knows? There may actually be a familiar face in the crowd.
2) THIS PETTY PACE
By now, you're acquainted with everybody here and you're slowly growing bored. Bored enough to kill? Hopefully not. You'd better try to find something else to do. You can always go hang out with your castmates, or maybe try and whip something up in the kitchen! There’s also a music room to keep you busy! I sure hope you like music.3) BREAK A LEG
Comedies are fun and all, but that’s not quite what we’re about here. You’ve all just been handed this week’s motive. What do you make of it? Is it one that might actually tempt you to kill, or did you get off lightly this time? Either way, maybe you’d better look around the room and see who else is having a rough time.4) CURTAIN
It was bound to happen eventually. Someone is dead, and now it's time to go off and investigate. Were they close to you? Are you, perhaps, feeling guilty? Either way, it's probably best not to leave anyone alone right now.5) CUE MUSIC
Feelings in a murder-opera can get pretty gosh darn intense. Sometimes you’ve just got to let it out. And hey, if you sing a song about whatever’s going on in your head, maybe someone will hear and come help you? Either way, this is a musical – there’s not really any reason not to sing. [Mod Note: The song mechanic is meant to be fluid and simple. You do not have to produce your own song lyrics, nor are you required to use show tunes (although we do encourage it!). If you want to rewrite existing lyrics to fit the situation, go for it! Anything goes - if Mumford and Sons expresses your character’s current emotions, then break out the banjos. We want to keep the musical mechanic as fun and simple as we can to encourage our players to use it as much as they like.]

Sigyn | The Bifrost Incident
[There is a amazing smell coming from the kitchen. Should you choose to investigate you'll see Sigyn sitting on the counter next to the oven with a spoon full of cookie dough. The timer on the oven's face is counting down from 5 minutes. A gentle smile crosses her face as she holds out a spatula, also covered in cookie dough.]
Want to help me clean up?
3 - Break a Leg
[It's late, long after lights out, the only light shining from the kitchen illuminates the hallway just enough to help one navigate from end to end. In the kitchen Sigyn stands at the island where a single knife lays. She isn't looking at it when you enter. Instead her attention is so focused on the picture in her hand she doesn't even realize you've entered until you say something.
Her eyes are red, though dry, as if there are no more tears to cry.]
4- Curtain
[ Looking at her, one would think the body in front of Sigyn had not affect on her. She examines them carefully, respectfully, but without showing a shred.
Gently, she closes the victim's eyes and stands, letting out a long sigh. Finally a sort of weariness settling around her shoulders.]
This never gets easier.
3
But.
Well, Riley's not stupid, but she's not great at seeing the full picture; if she felt claustrophobic in there, it only stands to reason someone else would too.
She stands in the doorway, silhouette casting a shadow across the kitchen. Oh, man. Oh, jeez. And Sigyn's just not...saying anything? At all? With that knife there? Riley's a bit nervous to turn around, now. ]
U-uh... Hi?
no subject
Riley!
[ The picture floats to the island top. A red haired woman smiles at whoever was holding the camera]
What's up? Is everything okay?
no subject
That's a question I was going to ask you. Hooow long have you been here...?
no subject
[Sigyn follows her line of sight to the knife.]
I wasn't-- Riley, This isn't-[She sighs, her shoulders dragging down] Norns, who am I kidding? This is exactly what it looks like.
no subject
If you try to kill me, I can scream really, really loud. [ Just! Getting that straight!! ]
no subject
I'm not going to kill anyone. She wouldn't want to come back like that.

[Bismuth eyes the spatula goop doubtfully.]
What is that?
no subject
[Sigyn licks some of the dough off her own spoon]
Have you never had cookie dough?
no subject
[so, no, for a lot of reasons sorta]
What's it made out of?
no subject
Flour, butter, eggs sugar, chocolate, and a little bit of salt.
no subject
Huh! How's it taste?
no subject
[Sigyn hums and takes another bite of dough. She's never really thought about the taste before, it's always just been 'cookie dough']
Might taste different to you, though?

Of course. [A clenched fist to prove by how much he swears to help her in her minute of need.] ...How do I get started?
no subject
[She hands him the dough covered spatula]
While I clean out the bowl.
no subject
What kind is it? [He swipes some off with a finger.]
no subject
[She scrapes the side of the bowl with the spoon, gathering more dough]
Found a big bag in the cupboard and figured we could use a pick-me-up.
no subject
Wouldn't it be just like the stage managers to put something harmful in this?
[Like poison? He doesn't taste anything off, but considering the lack of morality from the people running this, he wouldn't trust much of anything nice given to them.]

4 - Curtain
No, it definitely does not get easier. How many is that now? Four? When will this nightmare end? What are we going to do?
[Ariel starts to cry. Sobs shake her whole body and she sits down, right there on the floor. She leans her back against the nearest wall.]
no subject
Hey, Ariel, look at me.
[Her voice is stern, but somehow still warm.]
We are not going to let them get to us. They want us to break, and we are not giving them that satisfaction, okay?
Let's get started
You are right. We won't break. Now, let's find out who did this and why. Then we can worry about taking down our captors and getting out of here.
[Ariel starts looking around the room. She still tries not to look too closely at the body. Even after what they have been through, she is not used to such violence yet.]
Do you see anything that could tell us what happened? Do you have any idea who did this? How should we proceed?
3
The knife catches his attention first because of course it does. It's only after a beat that he glances at Sigyn and silently takes in her expression before stepping to the opposite side of the island. He takes another long drink from his bottle, studying her for a long minute before setting the bottle down and sliding it across the counter top toward her.]
no subject
Wha- [She looks down at the bottle, only vaguely recognizing the label, a fancy import rum from one of the systems outside of Yggdrasil.]
Jonny? What are you doing up? Is everything alright?
no subject
[He glances at the photograph and then nods toward the bottle.]
You look like a woman who could use a drink. Relax, it's not poisoned. Believe me, I'd know. [He's sampled just about every deadly poison known to humanity and some only known to a specific breed of space hummingbird.]
no subject
Thanks.
[She slides the bottle back to Jonny]
And thanks for not fighting the teenagers. Don't think it'd really be a fair fight. [The admonishment is lacking the typical stern quality Jonny has no doubt grown accustomed to.]
